Just some small things you can do to help yourself

If you can’t afford to hire an SEO team then here is a list of things you can do to help your website.

Add Enough Content to Each Page

A major issue we find when helping clients with their site is the lack of information on their site. They assume they have nothing to add or what they do add people will not want to read anyway. WRONG.

There is nothing worse than finding a page online that you think will be useful, only to find that the site is lacking information.

Do you know who does read the content on your site? Google does. With the millions of websites and information online, Google has to sort through it all to help you find what you are looking for.

Google requires a minimum of 300 words per page and at least one image. So it can determine what your page is about and index it to be found.

Don’t Click Your Competitors Link

If you are constantly checking in on what your competitors are up to … DO NOT click on their link in a Google search. One factor in Google’s algorithm is “the number of clicks” a site receives.

So if you Google your industry to see where you are ranked and you see your competitors links, do not click on their link. Highlight their website link and COPY and PASTE it into a new browser window or tab.

Treat your website like an employee.

What do we mean by that?

If you have an employee, you should:

  • Review their performance
  • Train them to perform new tasks or correct their mistakes and shortcomings
  • Let them go if they are not working out.

A website can do a whole host of things for your business and they will work 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.  If your website isn’t generating leads, providing directions to you location, answering customer questions, providing all the information your customers want and need, then you need to re-train your website or fire it and find a new one.

You wouldn’t put up with it from an employee, so why is it okay to let your website get away with it?
