Frequently Asked QuestionsExplaining the process and the benefits
SEO is not easy to do
Depending on your level of computer experience
If search engine optimization was an easy, “couple clicks of the mouse” process then your site would be #1 on Google tomorrow. But it if it was so easy, then your competitor would be #1 the next day and then you would be back at #1 the following day … and so on.
Google is the #1 search engine today and they would like to keep it that way. They are #1 because of the algorithm they have came up with and continue to tweak.
They continually tweak the algorithm because the technology changes and so do users.
- A few years back, mobile friendly sites were just being launched, now you are penalized for not having a mobile friendly website.
- Vehicle and Smartphones are constantly changing and people are performing more “voice searches” now, so sites need to be optimized for things like “nearest hotel to the Regina airport”.
What is Search Engine Optimization?
Search Engine Optimization is the process in which a website is optimized for the purpose of gaining higher positions in the popular search engines for related search terms. Our process of gaining higher positions is based primarily on building a websites authority
What methods do you use?
We have several, okay, lots of methods. There are at least 200 factors in Google’s algorithm so it might be safe to say we have 200 methods. We like to explain it this way: If you and your competitor’s website are tied with 100 factors each, then its the 101st one that may put you ahead of them.
The more factors we can apply to your site, the better off you are. Now Google doesn’t deliberately make it this difficult, its just part of the ‘math’ they use.
Think about how many food recipes there are out there. If you had them all, how would you organize them and then how would you find the one recipe when you need it?
When will you have my site at #1 on Google
We can’t say. Not because don’t want to, its just we can’t say for sure. Google tells us to never promise #1 ranking. Things can change in a heartbeat.
- Google’s Algorithm
- Your competitors might start performing SEO and pass you, or they might be spending more resources on SEO than you are
- More competitors may come into play
- Whomever also has access to your website (in house staff, other developers, etc.) may accidentally change settings, delete pages, remove links, etc.
What's the difference between SEO and SEM?
There are benefits to both SEO and SEM and depending on your needs and competition, we recommend using both. For example, if you have just launched a website or new service/product, then we can place an ad on a search engine and then start SEO for that same web page or specific page about the product or service.
However, depending on the competition for the product or service, there may already be companies advertising for the same thing. In order to appear at the very top of a search engine, then you need to pay more than the current advertiser.
What does SEO cost?
Every SEO campaign is personalized and customized to each client and for the search term desired. If you business sells many products and if you want each one optimized to be as high as it can on the search engines, then it will be more expensive than 1 product or service with fewer competitors.
Why ReginaSEO and not someone else?
If you don’t hire ReginaSEO, then make sure you hire someone with experience & knowledge. There a lot of people/companies out there that perform SEO. Some are good and some are bad.
There are a couple of terms to consider.
Black Hat SEO (like the bad cowboys wore in the old movies) and White Hat SEO (like the good guys wore). Google is smart enough to catch the difference if you can’t. If Google catches the Black Hat SEO techniques, then they punish the site. It’s similar to hiring a contractor to renovate your bathroom and doesn’t connect the pipes. Looks good but doesn’t work.
